Interesting what has been written here about the difference between friendship and romance. Would be inclined to agree that romance is mutual infatuation (or, to put it otherwise, a sense of exclusiveness), while friendship is not. And romance doesn't need to involve physical contact. It's about emotional attachment.
On my ace-book profile I've put aromantic, but really just because on the asexual community it is somehow understood that you agree to expressions of physical affection if you define as romantic.
I don't think there's anything wrong with mutual infatuation when it happens. When two people agree they're better off facing life together no matter what, well, so be it!
